The Faith Centre has ablution facilities for men and women. Maxwell, the SEE Building (room 01.33) and Allerton each have an ablution room on the same floor as the quiet room.

No. The prayer hall, jama'ah and Jumu'ah are open to every Muslim student and staff member at Salford, member or not. Membership pays for the things that cost money, like booking bigger rooms.

Six pounds for the year, plus the SU's two pound insurance charge, so eight pounds in total the first time you join a society that year. The SU splits them so that joining several societies costs less overall. It all goes through the join page.

The University runs free, confidential wellbeing and counselling support, and there's a 24-hour phone line for Salford students on 0800 970 1080 if you need to talk to someone right now. For everything else, fill in the self-referral form and an adviser rings you back. Both are on the contact page. You don't need a crisis, or a reason that sounds serious enough. There's a short form first. We check you're a Salford student before adding anyone. That keeps bots and randoms out, and it means people can speak freely in there. Takes a minute. The link is on the join page.

Through the SU, using their room booking form. Give at least three working days, and three weeks for anything large. If you're inviting an external speaker the SU needs a Freedom of Speech form at least fifteen working days beforehand. Missing that deadline is the most common reason an event gets pulled.

There's a recruitment form open right now for 2026-27, linked from the join page. Every role is going, from president to media to prayer space. You don't need experience and you don't need to know anyone; most of the people running this turned up to one thing and got roped in. The main roles are elected in March through the SU.

Speak to your programme leader or personal tutor early, in writing, and say it is a religious obligation rather than a preference. The University's faith pages and the Faith Centre can back you up, and the SU can help if you get nowhere. It is easier to sort in week one than in week six, and the Faith Centre runs more than one sitting on a Friday partly so that people with clashes can still make one.

Yes, to most of it. Talks, socials, charity work and the stall are open to anyone. The prayer hall itself is a place of worship, so come with someone who can show you how it works rather than wandering in during salah. Nobody will try to convert you and nobody will be strange about it.

The Faith Centre is card access for students and staff, so you cannot let yourself in before you enrol. On an open day, ask at the Faith Centre desk or email faithcentre@salford.ac.uk beforehand and they will usually show you round. You are welcome to message us as well and we will tell you honestly what it is like.

The Faith Centre keeps its normal hours through the vacations, and the daily jama'ah carries on. Jumu'ah usually drops to fewer sittings because far fewer people are around, so check the Jumu'ah page for the current month rather than assuming term-time times. Most ISOC events stop between terms.

There is a quiet room, room 324, on the third floor of the University Building. There is no wudu area in the building and no jama'ah. The nearest jama'ah is the Faith Centre on Peel Park.

The Faith Centre extends its hours, runs taraweeh, and provides dates and water before Maghrib. ISOC runs iftars, funded by donations. A dedicated Ramadan page goes up a few weeks beforehand.

Report it at Report It, the University's own system. File it under hate incidents — that is the category covering hostility based on religion, and there is no separate Islamophobia box to tick. You can either ask for an advisor to contact you or report it anonymously. The University adopted a written definition of Islamophobia in November 2024, so there is a standard to report against. You can tell us as well; we're not a reporting body and we won't do anything you haven't asked for, but you shouldn't have to sit with it on your own.

This site doesn't decide it and doesn't calculate it. The Hijri date on the timetable is the one printed on the Faith Centre's own timetable, and when Ramadan and Eid are announced we publish what's announced. If you follow a different sighting, note that it changes nothing about the daily prayer times. It changes which day Ramadan starts and which day Eid falls on.

At the Faith Centre. Both the day and the time are announced close to Eid, and we publish them here and on Instagram as soon as they're confirmed. We don't put up a guess beforehand.
